Taken at our good friend and neighbor across the street--Kiona's bookstore called Curious Cup

we find gorgeous Ana modelling this week's fashions! Always something fun brewing at

Curious Cup---whether it be an art show, author signings, music on First Fridays, or just finding a great read!

Love this playful red print dress. It has the most adorable sleeves and vintage styling.

Very flattering and fun!

I think Ana found a wonderful umbrella at Curious Cup, too!

Bring out the whimsical side in you--with the adorable umbrella and red dress!

Then we will run across back to Whimsy and grab some more fun clothes!

Oh wait, Ana has joined the mannequins in our shop window and is teasing people as they walk by!

Fitting in perfectly with our yellow window, is the vintage sleeveless cotton dress, complete with a little

bow at the waistline.

Don't you just love mannequins that actually have expressions!

New Finds Wednesday

Finally! A little glimpse weekly into one of the Whimsy stores and this week is from our

Whimsy ---Home and Garden on 7th Street in Carpinteria.

Four legged friends are always welcome in our stores! In fact when we opened

10 years ago on 7th Street, we kept a jar of biscuits for our furry visitors. It wasn't until

a tinier 4 legged furry creature found our stash that we had to discontinue this...EEEK!

Above we have a little collection of fun doggies and in the background are our hooked pillows.

Above is a little glimpse into a great assortment of vintage kitchen items.

Recycled Denim's awesome and very popular tooth fairy pillows. Perfect for every little one in your life that

has a few loose teeth. They are adorable and practical and oh so unique!

Love the pair of vintage candle holders...or take out the candles and put in some fresh Spring flowers!

Speaking of Spring, the quilts and toppers in this space are vibrant and just perfect to brighten any room!

The bird onaments are not just for the Christmas tree. My friend put a few of these on her

Easter creation---a leafless branch with handmade gorgeous eggs hanging and the colorful

birds scattered on. What a cute idea! Got a flock in store for only $5 each!

Vintage Fashion Friday

With the amazing help of photographer Emily Rose James

we are excited to launch the Whimsy Antique's Vintage Fashion Friday!

Kicking off the series, we have some elegant poses featuring our clothing and accessories.

Taken at our favorite local Crushcakes, (a delicious breakfast and lunch spot with cupcakes that surely would win any cupcake contest)--the first outfit is a very long green belted dress, which is perfect for St. Patrick's Day or any day! Love the orange clutch and sample jewelry we carry all the time at Whimsy. Our selection of vintage hats is astounding.

Oh, and a cupcake definitely completes the outfit!

We have a wonderful variety of vintage white dresses, and lately brides-to-be are picking out one of a kind dresses that have character, and won't break the bank. How about the gorgeous purple gloves and glamorous vintage fur---WOW!

This green and blue vintage dress is stunning and perfect for a special occasion coming up!

Here is a long shot of the first green dress. It is so flattering, and the vintage dresses are all affordable and you won't see them on anyone else.

Everyone needs a little "vintage" in their wardrobe!

Above is a vintage yet mighty fine 1930's quilt. Such a perfect piece

to hang on your wall for amazing color or your bed to give you sweet dreams.



Hats off to this vintage beaver, and original paint gives it the vintage charm we all love.



Talk about original paint....this PINK screen door with BIRD motif is a charmer!



Intoducing our latest addition at our Whimsy on 7th Street, is Heidi
of Recycled Denims. Honestly her imagination is astounding and her creations
are flying out the door. You won't believe the way she recycles blue jeans!



This primitive childs rocker has remnants of "honest paint" and is one adorable vintage piece.
The yellow mid century fish are swimming around!



New hooked pillows are found in both shops. Come check out the new designs.

And now a brief break from the Holidays..........

I am always on the hunt for nice lines, and details of the

discarded vintage furniture pieces at my favorite local thrift store.

Not long ago, I found this little table that had an inset but nothing

in the inset. It was water stained and the kind of piece most folks

wouldn't look twice at. I wonder if it once hat amazing California pottery tiles inset

in it's former life? Anyway, I could pay for this cutie fast enough

and brought it home to discuss it's future lease on life with Mr. Whimsy.

We decided to make it "beachy" and paint it and paint strips of wood and inset

the strips that were left over from another project.

Here is how the piece turned out! Really adorable and I

am sorry to say this one sold really quick at Whimsy on 7th, but we have lots

in store for you at both our shops so visit us soon!

And, now we can resume to our previously scheduled holiday
