Katherine Andjelopolj (Lavelle) visits Whimsy!

It was if a ray of sunshine entered our shop recently. Lovely Katherine Andjelopolj (Lavelle)

from Johannesburg, South Africa paid us a visit and purchased a lovely vintage floral pin and a bracelet to complete her already, vibrant outfit. She told us she is an artist and we enjoyed her colorful and friendly peronality! Thanks for being the Whimsy customer of the Month!

Our beach treasure FRAMED at Whimsy

Our window displays were slated for renewing...
So, I decided to use the beach treasure I blogged about last month that we found
on the beach.

Jody of Brin and Nohl had a clever idea...

We decided to frame some of the treasure and use it as
background pieces of our natural seaside window display.

We used old cool frames and simply stapled to the back of the frame.

Great idea, Jody! Thanks!

Could a Country Girl Live in the City?

There's a new condo complex on Chapala in Santa Barbara...
Every angle you look is awe inspiring, and simply the
most attractive city living I have ever seen.

The architect's vivid imagination is seen on every ceiling...

and floor!

The iron railings are amazing, the light fixtures amusing...

The tile work on a bench out front is whimsical...

I love the organic feel of these critters that adorn another ceiling!

I must return at night to view the shadows and how the lights

illuminate this Santa Barbara treasure!

The walls are not flat, no way! They are textural and the shadows play

and skip around so your eyes are treated constantly.

Hmmm, yes, I think this country girl could be right at home in this condo

creation done by Jeff Shelton.

After all, doesn't it just say WHIMSY all over it?!

A Treasure Hunt at the Beach ?!!!!

Living in Santa Barbara never gets old.

Our family loves the ocean and me, being a Pisces, is certainly

drawn to the water as often as possible.

My son is a counselor this wee at Camp Wheez, a camp for asthmatic children

and after we drop him off, we head to a favorite beach and take along our

beach cruisers for some treasure hunting...and exercise.

We love sea glass, and I must admit, this week we have hit it great!

The tide pools have been magnificent!

Sea Stars clinging in brilliant colors...

Every so often we park and scout for treasures, like sea glass and....

Hey, what's that??

It appears to be a covering from a patio umbrella that

is all hand tied with palm fronds...

The color and textures mesmerize us.

Now we are thinking of a million Whimsy ideas.

Remember our motto--Reuse, Recycle, repurpose.

We have to have it! Wait we are on our bikes.

Oh, we will figure out a way....

Alan starts by picking it up...

Then, he takes off his overshirt and cleverly figures things out...

He ties it tightly around our treasure...

And lifts it over his shoulder...

And manages to balance the bike for a long ride back...

There he goes! Boy, did he get lots of stares.

Where there's a will, there's a way..Right!

I will keep you posted on how we repurpose our treasure in Whimsy!

Keep Calm and Carry On, still!

A sneak peek before the new colors hit Whimsy in a day or two...our beloved "Keep Calm and Carry On" screenprints. A lovely seafoam poses here with the coolest glass watering can I just purchased from Whimsy in Gale's space to add to my watering can collection. Also you will find a lucious lavender color amongst all the standard faves.

When Life Gives You Lemons...

Make a centerpiece!

When Jon asked us if any of us wanted some organic lemons from a friend's orchard, I answered quickly. I envisioned them on our kitchen table, taking the place of the flowers, for a change.

I say "Yummy"!
