Emma's birthday gift

We are in the truck headed to Ethan's good friend Emma's birthday party. Ethan is holding her gift tied with fresh flowers and a denim scrap. Photo-worthy, I reckon.

WHIMSY Vegetable Garden

This is the vegetable bed. Literally. Ready for organic veggies....

Of course we had to paint the vintage iron headboard white, the dark finish just didn't show up against the bouganvilla!

We'll call this our first attempt at a vegetable garden. Here is my husband Alan as he is putting on the finishing touches to the headboard/trellis of our veggie bed. Did I mention everything we do is just a little different? Why stop now? We'll name this the WHIMSY garden.

abstract from my garden adventure

There was something about the textures and graphics of this old farm piece that called my eye and asked me to capture it.

Garden Time

Every year a local nursery has a wonderful sale that is just the most gorgeous colorful eyeful that I had to share my experience this year. The selection is great and the prices are mind blowing, but if you wait till the last day everything is half price. This year I went back 3 times. The first day we loaded up for 20 bucks but the third day, I filled my car for 11 dollars with enough to create my Mother's patio and a few left over for me.

Meaning of Mother's Day

Here is my meaning of Mother's Day. My 18 year old daughter, Cayla--and my 15 year old son, Ethan. (Saying goodbye to Cayla at the Santa Barbara train station before she heads back to finish her freshman year at UCLA). These are the two humans that created my role of motherhood. Thank you, ahhh, most of the time. Teenagers are teenagers...

San Luis Obispo with Cayla --Spring Break

Behind the shops is a beautiful creek--one of downtown San Luis obispo's hidden treasures!

Cayla munching on a pickle she picked up at Old Edna's Cafe and Antiques!

Cayla and her UCLA pal, John at the Farmer's Market in SLO.

We parked by this quaint Inn on Garden Street.

Cayla was embarrassed as I snapped pics of the old painted sign unearthed on one of the buildings being retrofitted in SLO. She said I looked like "such a dorky tourist" !

Cayla relaxing at Old Edna's with the gorgeous lilacs next to the picket fence!

Thanks, my sweet daughter of 18 years. It was a pleasure to have some mother-daughter time!

Carpinteria Crate Label Tote Bags at Whimsy

My beautiful daughter, Cayla, and her best friend, Ryan, stopped by Whimsy on 7th on their way back to UCLA to pick up a tote bag so Cayla can use it to carry all those expensive text books to her Spring classes! They had Spring Break and Cayla worked at Whimsy for a few days.
Cayla is a playwriting major in the School of Film, Theater and Television at UCLA and Ryan is an acting major.

Whimsy has a great selection of Carpinteria fruit crate label tote bags, among others. All totes are $20 each and are great for farmer's market, shopping, beach trips, and...school books!
